Chris Packham & David Gray Join GEI18!

We’re delighted to reveal that more environmentalists and thought leaders have joined the programme for GEI18, shaping what is set to be one of our most compelling editions yet.

This year, we welcome conservationist and broadcaster Chris Packham CBE, alongside Dale Vince OBE, founder of Ecotricity and Forest Green Rovers F.C.

Together, they will share details of an important collaboration project, and we’ll explore Chris’s role as Chief Ecologist at Ecotalk. Later in the programme, Dale Vince returns with Dan Lambert, manager of hip-hop trio Kneecap and COO of Bohemian F.C., to discuss their experiences of navigating cancel culture and boycotts in Cancel Me, Cancel You.

Multi-award-winning singer-songwriter David Gray will also join us for the prestigious EarthPercent Hour, hosted by EarthPercent Co-Executive Director Cathy Runciman. The session explores how the power of music can be mobilised in service of the planet, reflecting the core purpose of the charity founded by Brian Eno.

EarthPercent invites artists and the music industry at large to donate a small percentage of their income, making change through organisations that meaningfully address the climate and nature crises. We invite all of our readers to support the great work of this charity, too.

Our programme also includes Riders on the Storm: Extreme and the New Norm, featuring Dr Mohammed Shamsudduha, Professor of Water Crisis and Risk Reduction at UCL, alongside Professor Richard Betts MBE, IPCC lead author and advisor to the Climate Change Committee. Joined by festival and sporting event experts, the panel will examine emerging climate trends, what’s coming next, and how events can adapt operationally. The session will be hosted by Claire Poole of Sport Positive.

Additional speakers include Ash Perrin of the Flying Seagulls Project, who brings joy and play to children in refugee camps; augmented reality and digital artist Doddz; writer and director Ellie Coote, whose critically acclaimed pop musical Hot Mess demonstrates the power of art to reach hearts and minds; and musical artists Katarina Barruk and Madame Gandhi.
