Dr Mohammad Shamsudduha
Dr Mohammad Shamsudduha (‘Shams’) is a Professor of Water Crisis and Risk Reduction at UCL Department of Risk and Disaster Reduction. Shams is a world-leading scientist in water risk and security, specialising in groundwater resources. His research spans South Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and global aquifer systems, integrating satellite observations, geospatial analytics, and field-based research to inform sustainable water and climate-resilience strategies. He serves on the Advisory Board of Watershed Investigations and is a Scientific Advisory Group member at icddr,b.
Shams has published more than 80 scientific articles with over 10,000 citations (Google Scholar), including high-impact papers in Science and Nature family journals. He served as a Contributing Author for the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report and collaborates widely with governments, NGOs, and international agencies to advance evidence-based water risk reduction and climate adaptation worldwide.
