Councillor Martin Fodor

First elected in 2014, Martin is currently the longest-serving Green of 34 on Bristol City Council. He has promoted practical local sustainability and partnership working throughout his career in public service and policy development locally, nationally and in Europe. As the Local Government Association’s first climate change and sustainability adviser in the late 90s he ensured government recognition of the contributions of local authorities. Since 2024 he has been chair of the city’s cross party Environment and Sustainability Committee, leading on climate, ecology, waste, energy and decarbonisation policies; supporting an ambitious programme for the council to tackle the climate emergency as a council and as a partner of city leaders. Martin has volunteered at several major festivals locally and nationally over 15 years and supported sustainability initiatives and research in the sector.
