A Greener Future (AGF) are looking for an experienced Sustainability Consultant with a background in Sustainable Event Management to join us and support our sustainability team to advance our services with enthusiasm and a positive mindset.
The successful candidate will be responsible for project managing and delivering work in the music, entertainment, sporting and cultural events sectors, providing sustainability consultancy, sustainable event management and reporting.
The role involves engaging with a range of organisations and their internal teams and contractors, to support their sustainability ambitions, advising on good practice, planning and executing sustainability actions for events, and supporting associated data gathering and reporting.
The successful candidate will be a team player, with a collaborative approach and will be involved in reviewing internal processes, procedures, and standards to identify and implement continuous improvements to AGF services.
This is a ‘hybrid’ role mixing working from home, office, and onsite event work in the UK and potentially abroad. Occasional travel and evening/weekend availability, as well as potentially long onsite working days for events is required. The position of Sustainability Consultant / Sustainable Event Manager is an integral part of the AGF consultancy team. Key duties and responsibilities are detailed below and will vary by individual project.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Providing sustainability consultancy services to AGF clients, including project management, team management and reporting.
Meeting with external event organisers/organisations to discuss, advise and agree a best practice approach to sustainability strategies and initiatives.
Working with event teams and contractors to support and communicate sustainability plans and actions, providing guidance on industry good practice.
Support organisations in their data gathering processes and procedures.
Data analysis and reporting with recommendations to improve sustainability actions.
Contribute to ongoing improvement of AGF consultancy processes and systems.
Experience & skills required:
Sustainability consultancy in the event and / or sports sector.
Qualifications or degree in environmental or sustainability management related subjects (or equivalent experience).
Knowledge of industry standards, ESG frameworks, and regulatory standards and sustainability management practices in the events sector.
A strong interest and understanding of sustainability trends and innovations.
A thorough and meticulous approach to work.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate and influence at all levels of an organisation.
Comfortable working remotely. Ability to manage own workload and multiple priorities calmly, effectively and without supervision.
Good knowledge of Google Drive and Google Sheets or Excel.
Outstanding organization skills, experienced in working with time constraints and implementing changes quickly when required.
An innovative and flexible approach.
Desirable:
Knowledge of CO2 measurement and reporting protocols.
Experience of relevant management systems. E.g., ISO 14001, ISO 20121.
Delivering training and workshops.
Public speaking and presenting skills.
