Ecotricity Business and AGF: Building an end-to-end green pathway for live events
Ecotricity Business Act1.5
There’s a song that tells us it's not easy being green. And there’s no doubt that embracing sustainability can come with its challenges. However, at A Greener Future (AGF), our deep relationship with our partners at Ecotricity Business is delivering green solutions for live event spaces to make it that bit easier.
The journey from concept to delivery of the Live Events Energy Scheme (LEES) is a testament to innovation, impact and collaboration between AGF (the institution behind GEI18), Ecotricity Business and other like-minded partners. From the concept’s inception at GEI17 to its evolution into a fully operational scheme, AGF’s platform has provided the perfect environment for dialogue, networking, and industry alignment.
LEES has made it simple for venues of all sizes to switch to 100% renewable electricity and carbon neutralised gas, with options for advanced green energy solutions like Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and our time-matched Real Time REGOs solution for larger energy users.
Beyond energy: A verified pathway to ESG credibility
However, this is just the beginning as Ecotricity Business will look to deepen their collaboration to help venues and festivals move beyond energy procurement: toward independently verified sustainability credentials and brand-ready ESG storytelling.
We’re working with Ecotricity Business to build a simple, three-step end-to-end journey for this:
Live spaces switch to LEES
Certify their operations through AGF’s independent assessment
Report with ESG-ready metrics and a verified narrative that meets sponsor, investor and local authority expectations.

Aligning with the industry
The live events ecosystem is moving toward consistent, auditable sustainability baselines. The LEES × AGF pathway is being designed to meet these shifts:
Green Events Code of Practice: A collaboration between Vision for Sustainable Events and Julie’s Bicycle sets clear minimum standards and targets 50% emissions reduction by 2030, with strengthened energy commitments including eliminating onsite fossil fuels by 2030. A national rollout is underway following 2024’s local authority pilot.
Vision for Sustainable Events (formerly Vision:2025): A Climate Transition Plan to 2030 co-developed with AGF, LIVE, Julie’s Bicycle and Festival Republic, giving organisers a shared evidence base and practical roadmap.
LIVE’s 2025 policy platform: This places the green transition at the core of sector asks to government—signalling support for decarbonisation investment and practical routes like LEES.
Major rightsholders and promoters are already tightening sustainability expectations. Live Nation’s Green Nation Charter sets a high watermark that cascades into sponsor briefs and activation KPIs.
That means venues and festivals with verified energy provenance (LEES), plus audited certification (AGF), can demonstrate their alignment with the wider industry; promote their green credentials to a sustainability-minded audience base; and unlock cobranded climate activations with credible measurement.
