Greener Stages at LIDO: AGF and Partners Behind the Green Festival Shift

This summer, AGF was happy to support a major sustainability milestone in the live events industry. As sustainability consultants for LIDO Festival in London, we supported the event with advance planning and an onsite sustainability management team.
We also calculated and provided menu eco-labels to help people make informed choices – selecting meals that are still delicious but don’t cost the Earth. We are now focused on post-event analysis and reporting for all sustainability initiatives and CO₂ impacts.
When it comes to green energy, Grid Faeries x Ecotricity – co-founded by our CEO Claire O’Neill and Dale Vince OBE – provided the main stage’s 1MW battery and renewable grid power, marking the first-ever main stage powered entirely by green energy at a London outdoor music festival.
“LIDO was a landmark moment for green festivals. We’ve shown that world class headline acts can be powered cleanly, and that 'business as usual' is no longer good enough.”
In conjunction with LIDO Festival, Grid Faeries x Ecotricity successfully demonstrated in the real world how a mainstream London festival could radically reduce its carbon footprint without compromising safety, quality, or experience – in fact, quite the opposite, thanks to the absence of generator noise and pollution. The most striking achievement came on the day of Massive Attack’s headline show, when the entire event site operated for more than 32 hours on battery power alone.
