Dr Jane Lovell

Dr Jane Lovell is a Reader at Canterbury Christ Church University where she teaches tourism and events, specialising in events design and production, staging green festivals, creative destinations and heritage tourism. She previously worked at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. She has been a Visiting Fellow at the British Library and is a member of a number of groups, including Canterbury’s World Heritage Site Management Committee and UNESCO’s London and the South East World Heritage Site working group.

Jane’s publications include several books, and her research, for example a paper on enchantment and light trails, has been publicised by international media. Her research interests include heritage, magical tourism and storytelling, in particular folklore, myth, legends and storytelling, fantasy, magical, literary and film tourism. At present she is focused on how event managers work with nature. She also continues to stage the light installations that she studies.
